All previous versions of RPG Maker simply fucking crashed upon not finding a file, you'd have to look at your terminal log to see what went wrong. but UNLIKE previous versions of RPG Maker, the engine actually tells you what the error is, what it's looking for and where it's looking for. It could be anything, from font files to script files, to audio/image files, etc. It means if the game asks for, say, a font called 'CALIPR.TTF' your system will look for it and report 404 file not found despite 'CALIPR.ttf' being in the directory.
KNOWN ISSUE: MV games are notorious for giving errors and crashing due to not finding files (mostly the former), this is due to unix filenames being case sensitive while Windows is not.
